Default RUF Wheels on 996?

Hello,

What do you all think of the RUF 5-star wheel? I'm not sure what it's called, but it the flat-faced one.

I have no idea what they cost, but I see an opportunity to buy them from someone who's selling his car. What would y'all pay for used RUF 18" wheels?

Thanks (as always)!

They look great, but be warned - they are HEAVY!! I don't have exact figures, but if you worry about performance, then avoid them - unless your car has a significant power upgrade at the same time.

I'm not a wheel expert, but RUF and TechArt appear to be quality wheels. Why would they make them so heavy?

Maybe so they can be durable and "bulletproof" against road hazards, just like most stock wheels.

Maybe I'm off.....

I think RUF does also make light weight wheels, but their standard 5-spoke 18" wheels are known to be very heavy. Haven't been able to find the exact weight on the internet. Anyone know?

The Ruf 5 spoke has always been one of my favorites, as stated heavy. I saw a speed yellow 993 C2S with black Ruf 5 spokes. The owner had the outside edges painted speed yellow to match the car. Sounds wierd but it came off very nice on the 993.

Are they cast or forged?

If they area considered heavy (over 20-25 lb) then they are doubtlessly a pressure cast wheel, and not forged.

I was guessing they were cast, but I am wondering if anyone knew for sure.
