Default Pcar Noob...Looking to buy...

Greetings all. Coming over from Audiworld to your world.

Been reading for 2 months. Looking into buying a mid to late model 996.

Thoughts on this-->

2002 PORSCHE CARRERA CABRIOLET - 41K MI; SEAL GREY/ SPECIAL ORDER RED FULL LEATHER, 6 SPD; CLIMATE CONTROL, C.C; BOSE CD PLAYER, ALARM, FULL PWR. & HTD. SEATS, RARE MOTOR SOUND EXHAUST SYSTEM, 18" ALLOYS, NEW TIRES, CURRENT REG; 54k (w/o any discussion on the price)

Great to drive. Sounds amazing.
Someone please explain the switch to me that makes the exhaust go from Rez to non Rez.
Are Pcar clutches WAYYYYY stiffer then Audi clutches?

Great car! What do you think...
TIA!

Say, that's a nice looking car! Nothing says "LOOK AT ME!" quite like a red interior.

But seriously, the price is way high, I got all that plus AWD and other extras over half a year ago for less. I'm thinking mid $40's. What is a "RARE MOTOR SOUND EXHAUST SYSTEM"? I got one too, it's orange and it was free.

I am assuming this car has PSE (Porsche Sport Exhaust). An electronically actuated vacuum opens or closes a damper in the mufflers. When the PSE is OFF, the damper is closed and it is in "quiet" mode, when it is ON the damper is open and in "loud" mode. Even when it is open (loud) is will automatically close at 25 to 40 MPH (roughly). This was done to comply with some European noise abatement laws.

There are ways to keep it ON (loud) all of the time. There is also a way to eliminate the "noise ordinance" cut out, so you can still turn it ON of OFF. If you end up getting this car or another with PSE, you could do a search here on PSE and have a full evening of reading about it and the MODS to change how it operates.

That interior is not for everybody. Buy it only if you really want it. You might have a tough time maintaining it ... or even selling it later on.

Color combination is incredible and unique. Maybe too unique - think it over carefully, and make sure it's the one you really want. The asking price is way too high for an '02 w/ 41K miles.

thanks for the replies guys....
I love the interior. Probably the main reason I want this car.
I'll check out the PSE.

So would the argument for resale work towards the purchase negotiations?
If the car is in good shape what kind of offers would you guys give?
I am thinking 45 low ball to 47max.

Anyone in Los Angeles have any suggestions on dealerships?
