Sounds like a decent deal, maybe get him down a little more if you can as prices unfortunately are coming down.....it seems like being driven is better for these cars than not, so mileage should not be a problem even though everybody wants lower.

Sounds like a fair deal to me if the car is pretty nice. With the values of the 'G50 Carreras so strong, it shouldn't be too big a delta from the value of your old car. (Unless you're lucky enough to be able to keep both!).
I loved my '87 Carrera, liked my '92 C2 even more, and my '99 996 blows them both away.
Good Luck,
Joe

You gotta go with your heart. I love the older 911's, but I would not trade my 996 for a 993.
That being said there are plenty of 993 guys that wouldn't trade for a 996.
The car sounds like a great deal, but if your heart is not in it...........

well its a tough call....where there is a gain there is a loss..having 2 boxsters, the interior is an issue..i am not a big fan of it..but its not that big a deal..its really a tough choice..i thank you all for your fast response...i love them all..there is something great in all of these cars and i do not hate 996s cause they are water-cooled,and only like 3.2s cause they are the real last blah,blah,blah...i do feel that they are different and all of them are 911s.for 27k what the hell..

joey c,
I've owned all of the cars you mention. As stated each has it good and bad side. For a daily driver I'd take a 996 hands down. Even for the occasional track day I'd still take the 996. If I were to beat one to death 10 weekends a year I'd lean to the 993.

alan, you hit it on the head..i live in nc.I dont work in nc,so i dont need a car.We have an audi wagon for trips and grocery duty,so i really only need a car to beat to death on everytime i drive it.My 87 is perfect for that,BUT I know that the 996 is a better car..That does not mean more fun,but it is better..this is my dilema..thanks,j

There is no comparison in the handling department, even with different tires and shocks on the WRX the 996 clearly out handles it.
