Default Most useless mod

Just curious, what's the most useless mod you're every heard of?

If by "useless" you mean no actual improvement in the car's performance, I'd say painting anything (calipers, bumperettes, etc.).

If you believe aesthetics are useful, then it comes down to personal taste and nothing is useless.

K&N Cold Air Intake.
Your dashboard lights will go up like a Christmas tree and you'll end up replacing your MAF, doubling the original purchase price.
Only buys you frustration...

Useless as in superficial...... poseresque. I always get a chuckle out of guys who spend $2,000 to upgare to a GT3 roof liner.... Ok, I made that one up. Making changes to improve (to the eye of the beholder) the appearance is certainly a matter of personal taste. But some folks go a bit too far in my opinion. For example, I once saw a picture of a 996 over in Europe somewhere that was modified to look like a 997. My reaction was "Why???" That tops my list.

Having the PSE, I know I risk coming across as a bit hypocritical as many would say the PSE is a useless mod. So I admit I'm somewhat guilty myself. But where do you draw the line?

THE 997 front end i could see if the front of the car was wrecked and it was close to the same cost to replace it with a 997 front

PSE is actually one of the greatest mods! The PSE gives the car the sound it SHOULD have leaving the factory not the tame crap they deliver.

Hmmm to each there own but I can break mine down into the following categories

"I.CE." folks having fancy remotes for a head unit that is arms lengths away.
"Show" folks having a silver crest added to their 996
"Autocross" folks with 3 point harnesses
"DE" folks with a tow trailor
"street" folks with aftermarket ceramic brakes pads

Why do you say tow trailer is useless for DE events? Have you DE'd?

Based on the post, the car was not wrecked. The owner changed all of the body panels, front, rear, and sides. The post that I read questioned the crashworthiness of the car as the body panels aren't "bolt-ons". Supposedly, a lot of structural modifications were necessary to complete the project and obvioulsy, the structural modifications weren't backed by factory crash testing.

Pretty extreme in my book.

My vote would be for:

1) so called performance air filters which do nothing but suck money out of your wallet.

2) 19 inch wheels which are heavier than the 18 inchers.

3) Certain (but not all) aftermarket exhaust systems which make inaccurate claims of increased power and torque. Buying one for a better sound is OK, more power ... mostly a joke.
