Default Performance Cats vs Exhaust systems

Is anyone running performance Cats with the stock exhaust?

Are performance cats worth the money when it comes to P-cars? Do they provide more hp than an exhaust upgrade?

Cats will give more power then an exhaust upgrade. Now the real question is IMO the cats get about 10-12 HP compared to about 5 for a exhuast. Is the 7 HP worth the trouble if the cats burn out sooner or if there is a CEL.

Word to the wise, only trust the responses that can show dyno sheets of the gains.

I've heard anecdotal evidence that running sport cats offers higher horsepower at higher revs at the expense of lower horsepower at lower revs. Remember, racers generally have different requirements than about town drivers. It really depends what you are hoping to accomplish.

I have sport cats on my 02 and I do get CEL's. Right and left bank out of range for the rear O2 sensor. If I reset and take a long interstate drive it might last for a couple of days. Around town I've reset and had it back on the same day within 30 miles.

They sound nice but may not be worth the trouble. For a track car it would be another story.
