Default Ride Height of 996 w/X74 vs. GT3

Anyone know which is lower and by how much? I'm thinking about installing the X74 and am a bit concerned about scraping.

GT3 is lower......I can't remember by how much though.

I have the X74 on my 996. It provided a dramatic handling improvement, no way I'll ever go back to stock. However, be prepared it is much stiffer than stock.

I have the X74 om 02 C2 and i don't have any major problems. You do have to be careful on steep driveways. However, now that I have added the MKII aero kit the front lip extension looks to be good candidate for scrapes.

For the ride I'm willing to put up with the small issues. I really like the way the car handles.

Why are you comparing it to the GT3? Unless you have one, I can't see why you would use it to compare. The X74 will lower your current C2 by 30mm. No problem on regular roads, road bumps, speed bumps. The only ones that I've scraped on with the X73 were pretty obviously steep driveways. One of them was at the Porsche dealership! Just learn to take the obvious ones at an angle, and you'll be fine.

I guess I didn't fully explain my thought process. If it's not as low as the GT3, which is what I assummed, then I'd feel fairly confident that I'll be able to live with the reduced clearance. If it's lower than the GT3, then I'd need to do some more research/homework before moving forward.

Let's see, for the front suspension:

Standard US: 158mm
X74: 118mm
GT3: 112-115mm

For the rear suspension:

Standard US: 163mm
X74: 133mm
GT3: 125-128mm

Assumes 18" wheels all around.

I was amazed, in following a GT3 for a 1/4 mile or so in my standard 2002 C4 Cabriolet, how much lower the GT3 seemed. After changing to the X74 suspension, the first time you sit in the car you immediately feel a significant amount lower to the ground. The whole perspective thing is pretty dramatic. But, surprisingly to me, your brain accomodates very quickly and now after just a couple of weeks, it seems very normal. I haven't been in a standard height car since my changeover -- I wonder if the reverse will hold true as well?

Good luck.
