Default Lower my Porsche 996

Hello guys I'm new to this forum and I have a question. I have a 2002 996 C4S that I would like to have lowered. I wanted to know if you guys could point me in the right direction in having this done? Also if I have my car lowered would it mess up the way the car handles and the PASM? Please help me out. Thanks

First, welcome to the forum. I can't answer your question, but I can give you a heads up that this is the best possible place to ask questions and the community here is awesome. But...you'll get very fast and informative responses if you tell everyone a little more about yourself and your car and ideally share a few photos. I would also encourage you to pay to become a formal member. Your supporting this site means that the members will support you and this place will help you save thousands of dollars of poorly spent money down the road. Happy motoring.

K-9 - Welcome to the best Porsche Forum on the 'Net. Pics of your car would eb nice, 'cuz we LOVE pics! If you want to lower the car and keep it all "Porsche" parts you could go with the RoW M030 set up. Lower, firmer ride, with less body roll.

If you're looking for better performance then you can always get it lowered (do a search here, there are a load of posts on what to do, and what not to do). If you are just looking for appearance, you might consider some bigger rims and ground effects.

-td -> it would help if you posted a little more info and some pics as well...

I just did H&R'S on my 02 Carrera and they work great. I highly recomend them. The ride is just a little bit harder. If you are using your car as a daily driver you might want to keep the ride the same. My car is a weekend toy. If you are going to do springs, do it yourself. There is alot of information on this site about doing the work yourself. If your somewhat mechanically inclinded. Go for it!!

Hey thanks for the information guys. I am in the process of becoming a forum member. I don't have any pics of my car at this because I am currently deployed to Iraq as a Military Police Dog Handler. I just brought the car when I was back in Germany on leave so I only had one day to drive it. The mods I have brought so far is a Techart front bumper, Fabspeed exhaust, and a Evo air intake system. The car is a 2002 996 C4S Speed Yellow with 20,000 miles. I will take and get my girlfriend to take pictures of it so I can post them on here. Once again thanks for the help.

PSM or PASM? I believe you mean PSM (Porsche Stability Management) instead of PASM (Porsche Active Stability Management).

There are several options open to you. The 996 C4S comes standard with the M030, and since you bought the car is Germany, it is already the ROW M030 height. If you want to stay Porsche, your next step is the X73. It's what I have on my car. It is made by Porsche, lowers the car 30 mm all around, comes with engine mounts to keep the proper drive-train alignment after lowering. Since it is made specifically for the 996 C4S, there are no compatibility issues with anything. Car is stiffer, lower, and if you give it a little more negative camber, transforms the car's performance into an awesome track car.

If its a non usa car, or ROW car, its already as low as any of the other lower springs sets will go. Unless you buy extra high performance adjustable spring / shock sets. And if you make it go that low, you'll be scraping and draging constantly on normal streets.

not true. H&R springs position the car significantly lower than ROW ride hight.

As mentioned the X73 package is a nice option and it is easy to install.
