Please advise me on this 996 C2 Aero purchase
I am interested in a 996, and found one that looks interesting.
The car is a 2000 996 C2 with Full Aero, 36000 miles, 2 owners, clear carfax.
The car was not optioned with the Aero, from what I am told it was purchased with it from Porsche Dealership so the dealer put it on. Its the Taco wing complete aero kit.
Car has these option codes, I tried to decipher them, but the ones with question marks I am unsure of:
C02 Equipped with catalytic converter
XRR Carrera sports wheels XRR?
XRD standard calipers painted red?
XPD Carbon leather 3 spoke steering wheel?
XRL 18" Sport Design wheels?
448 colored crests?
490 Hi-Fi sound system
X47 carbon fibre handbrake-
X54 Oval Chrome Exhaust Pipes
X58 carbon fibre gear lever-
X70 Metal Door Sill with Insignia
X71 Aluminum Instrument Dials
236 18" alloy wheels?
537 Left seat with positrol and lumbar/ Seating Position Control for Comfort Seat - Left
586 Back-Support (Lordose) - Left Seat
692 CD-Changer "Porsche CD C-1"
437 Comfort Seat - Left - Electrically Adjustable
438 Comfort Seat - Right - Electrically Adjustable
Also in addition to the above codes, car has full taco wing aero kit installed, and a few other Carbon Fiber peices dealer installed, including carbon fiber console and the area around the radio/AC.
I noticed a single pea sized "ding" on the roof, very suttle. Also a bit of rubbing on the front bumper, nothing impact related but rubbed something. The drivers rear tire was curbed pretty bad, probably whatever curbed that rim blew the tire, but the owner said it was like that when he bought it which was 1.5 years ago. I would plan to buy a new rim.
I would of course get a PPI from Porsche, but I am asking if you all can help me valuate "Ballpark" on something based on a passing PPI.
Some questions regarding the option codes:
The breaks look to be black brakes. So that would mean option code XRD is not Red Brakes, any ideas what XRD is?
Is XRL and XRR both Carrera 18" Sport wheels (Left vs Right?)
X70 I am thinking could be metal insignia on the steering wheel, as I did not see one on the doors, but there was a silver metal insignia on the steering wheel.
What could 236 be, if XRL and XRR are the Sport Design wheels (Which this car has based on pics below), not sure what code 236 is.
What would be a good price range for a car of this build? The tires are fairly new, have about 75% tread left.
I noticed the bolts on the wheels looked a bit rusted around the edges, not sure if that happens, perhaps tools rubbed the finish off? I dont know, it wasnt that bad but noticiable, could use some new wheel bolts imho.
Thanks for any help, it is much appreciated.

I made a mistake, this is a Factory Aero, I misread XAA as "XRR" (R looks like A on the option codes) corrected option codes are as follows:
C02 Equipped with catalytic converter
XAA Aerokit
XAD Rear Side GT Fins - ext fins
XPD 3-Spoke Str Whl-Carbon/Leather
XRL 18" Sport Design Rad Wheel
446 Wheel caps with colored Porsche crest
490 Hi-Fi Sound System
X47 carbon fibre shifter
X54 Oval Chrome Exhaust Pipes
X58 carbon fibre handbrake
X70 Door sills in ss embossed with model insignia
X71 Aluminum painted instrument dials
236 18" tires
537 Left seat with positrol and lumbar/ Seating Position Control for Comfort Seat - Left
586 Lumbar support, driver's side
692 Remote CD Changer 6 CD
437 Comfort Seat - Left - Electrically Adjustable
438 Comfort Seat - Right - Electrically Adjustable
So I am glad its a factory aero. Owner is asking around 40k

Sounds like a very fair price at 40K, especially if the PPI is good. Wouldn't go much higher.
Lots of our cars have rusty lugnuts. some people simply repaint them.

Ok I have settled with the seller at $37500 and the PPI is being scheduled next week. The porsche dealership says its a visual inspection, $165.00 its their standard PPI offering. I assume this is what most do I plan to meet with the service mgr to go over what is to be done. I may additionally schedule it with a body shop to make sure all is straight.

Thats a good price, I am flying to florida in two weeks to have a speed yellow shipped back, managed to get the price down to 39.5, with just under 17k miles and all the options including clear markers.
Congrats man, post some pics up once your all done, hope the PPI is positive!

Does someone have a copy of a PPI they can post thats pretty legible that I can compare to what this porsche dealer is going to do. I am concerned since the ppi price is only $165.00. I assume some sort of computer diagnostics. The service manager told me its a basically a lookover/visual inspection, but that it would catch things like seal leaks since those show visable evidence............what do you all think?
