Gracias Axel! I go to Buenos Aires at least 3-4 times a year. I have not seen that cutout in my car (maybe because its Euro spec?) and will have a closer inspection in a few minutes.

My car does not look like that in the rear. There is a "step" right before the shelf where the anchors are. I felt around the shelf and could not tell where there is a cutout for the anchor points. I called the local stealer and they had no clue about this (they even told me not to put kids back there!). I am guessing its USA spec only feature and possibly after X year and specific model?

Hmmm. Could be a model year thing. Mine is an '03. Sorry it didn't help. I thought all 996's had this feature.
