Default Arena Red/Burgandy Paint to sample 996

Has anyone ever seen one on a 996/997 and has pictures? Wife's favorite color, and really growing on me... looks amazing on the 993s... Thanks! Ross

Take a good look at Carmona Red for your 997. It is very close to Arena Red. I like Arena as well. It was my first choice when I ordered the Orient Express, but was not available as a regular choice, so I went with Orient Red, which I have not regretted.

Here is a Cayenne in Carmona Red:

and a 996 in Arena Red:

FWIW, I think Carmona looks like dried blood. It's not anywhere as good as Arena. I got so many great comments about my Arena 993C4.

On the other hand, your Orient rocks!

Interesting observation. Do you know how the name "Arena Red" came about?

The color is based on the color of the sand in a Roman coliseum after a Gladiator match. The coliseums arena sand was red with the blood from the events of the day and days past.

Orient Red is interesting in that it color shifts depending on the angle and temperature of the light.

Dell-The car looks great! Makes me miss my 993.

Orient- the origin of "arena" came to mind just as you were asking the question, LOL!

I currently have black, which looks awesome when clean, but I will never own a black car again.

Fell ya on the black. Just got rid of my black ML430 last year for the new Cayenne in silver. What a great change of pace for keeping clean!

RCG412 -

My 1999 Arena Red 996 C2 Coupe with Savannah Beige leather interior is on Ebay. Take a look... and if you know anyone looking for such a "great little car", let me know. (I bought a 2001 Arctic Silver Twin Turbo 6 speed with Grey supple leather interior on June 29th back in my old home town of Kansas City, MO.) Thanks... and have a great day!

Was arena red paint to sample, or a color on the 99s?

Nope, it was an optional metallic through model year 2000 including the 993/996.

Gotta love Arena Red. Like Dell says: available factory color through 2000 (on 986, too).

Here's mine. We'll be selling it soon to make room for a Cayenne as the wife is 4 months pregnant! I put it up for sale a few months ago but turned down a few offers and decided to keep it until spring.
