Aaron - WOW you car looks AWESOME. Great job! I did the same (minus the wet sanding) two weekends ago. It is amazing that even with careful hand washing you still bet a few fine scratches in the paint.

Wet sanding is for deep scratches that polish wil not remove. You are basically lowering the clear coat around the scratch to the depth of the scratch. BE CAREFUL NOT TO SAND TOO DEEP INTO THE COLOR BASE COAT! The base coat is designed to have the clear protective coat over it. Just take the gits of sandpaper listed above and a spray bottle of water and first thoroughly soak the paper. Then spray the surface generously while sanding in straight motions over the scratch. If the area is flat a small block of rubber can be used to wrap the paper around. If it is curved (which most surfaces on our cars are) then just use your fingers. Sand as small an area around the scratch as needed. After the 2500 grit the scratches left by the sandpaper are so small that a polish will remove them. And wala No more scratch!

The same process is used for lowering the touch up paint used to fill a rock chip.
