New 2002 C2 Owner
I want to introduce myself as the proud owner of a 2002 C2. I bought her from a dealer in Plano Texas last month and drove it back to my home in California. This was a one owner lease car from the Sacramento area that went to auction when the lease was up and somehow ended up at this dealer in Plano. Has 44K Miles, silver outside and grey leather interior, 6spd, power/memory/lumbar seats, supple leather and Xenon lights. I was watching this car on Ebay for about six weeks when I finally made a deal with the seller for $45k including a 3yr ext warranty.
The 1400 mile road trip home was fun. I was actualy a bit dissapointed with the feel on the road, really seemed kind of floaty, wanting to dart off in other directions after a dip or bump in the road. When I got home I noticed the rear P-Zeros were worn from 70% tread to 10%. A string alignment in my garage revealed that the left rear had nearly 1/2" of rear toe-in. Seams that at some point recently the rear trailing arm had taken a sharp hit and was bent - maybe from the truck ride from the auction to the dealer? Replaced the arm ($250) and put on the RoW 050 kit and a professional alignement, now the car feals great.
Now that I got a few of the used car issues sorted out I am really starting to enjoy this car. I drive it a few days each week on my 50 mile commute to work which includes about 25 miles of the best twisties in southern california (Ortega HIghway)...the car is made for this kind of road! For a car with 44K miles it feals tight and like new, a real testimate to how well built these cars are. I wish I would have bought a 911 long before now...I love it!
Before deciding to purchase I used this forum to research extensively. Thanks to everyones participation on this forum it helped me to feel good about mmy used car purchase. Thanks,
Mark

Welcome I saw that car I think at Boardwalk. Very clean. The best part is that someone bought a car in Dallas that I was not asked to look at. After the option code debacle on Gant's ride I am out of the business

Congrats on the new car! I just went through my used car issues as well. I just bought my car about 3 weeks ago now. I LOVE it!

Steven - Seriously, I don't think you should blame yourself for that situation. I don't think that arr0gant blames you. The bottom line is that on any purchase the buyer is responsible for the "due diligence" on the car.
Thanks guys,
Yeah, I thought I had better had pics in my first post to avoid the newbie slap.
Steve, I got the car from SGautogroup in Plano which is a net seller (no storefront), but funny you mention Boardwalk as they are on the chain of title. For some reason that I dont understand the car was passed around among a number of dealers after it was bought from auction until I saw it offered by SGautogroup. California auction > Palomino motors > Park Place > Boardwalk > SG autogroup all within a few days??? I probably dont want to know why. Next time I buy a car in your area I'll make sure to ask you to check it out first
Outskirts, your not too far away, if you ever need to head toward San Juan Capistrano you can plan a fun route over the Santa Ana Mountains using Ortega Highway or Highway 74. On the weekends lots of folks drive it just for fun on their bikes or sports cars, a popular stop is Hells Kitchen which bills itself as a motorsports cafe, in fact the cafe owner has a heavily modded 996 turbo.
Next Mod: I bought some used mufflers on Ebay the other day. I would like to make the modifications to convert them to PSE sounding exhausts. i'll let you guys know how it turns out.
