Default I think you are looking at about $5000 ish for a rebuild

i have a 2nd gear sychro issue and have been quoted around $5k ish for rebuilt tranny installed or about $7500+ for a new one if i remember correctly. I ignored that price as i would just get a rebuild as it is less $.
Just call around your area to some good shops and see what they say.
Hope that helps
Ben

I bought my 996 knowing that 6th gear was out....got it cheap.
I talked with the guys at powerhause & said it could be fixed for
~$1500.00 plus it would be about $400.00 for shipping there & back.

You can usually find them on EBAY for ~$3500.00.

I lucked out & found a used tranny on Pelican for $1000.00 & it cost
$330.00 to ship from Puerto Rico..... so I feel I did pretty good.......

Good Luck,

- Cam
