Default Warranty Direct - Anyone?

Has anyone had any experience with Warranty Direct as a third party warranty provider?

I had coverage from them on my Boxster and never had to make a claim, so I can't speak to how they handle claims. I can say that when I traded my Boxster, they reimbursed the unused balance of my premium in 5 days. Their customer service was very good.

Can you just call them for a new policy,
or do you have to go thru' a dealer at time of purchase?

I went direct to their web site for a quote and also spoke to someone at their 800 number. http://www.warrantydirect.com/

I gave them my credit card number and I was covered. As I recall, there was some savings for starting their coverage before the Porsche factory warranty expired.

Standard disclaimer: I have no affiliation with, or financial interest in, Warranty Direct.

So far I'm happy with my warranty.

Bought my car in Feb. and bought Warranty Direct's version of bumper to bumper coverage. Discovered a drop of oil under the car in July and took it to the Porsche dealer. Warranty covered RMS replacement and valve cover leak (I think it would have cost about $1,000). The service writer said they were really easy to deal with. So far I'm happy with my warranty.

I think Warranty Direct sells direct to consumers via their website. I don't think they sell through dealers.

Every time I try to get a quote, the website says "We are sorry. Warranty Direct does not offer coverage on this vehicle."

No idea why and the website doesn't offer an explanation. How helpful.

Have had them for 3 years. They are great. They have covered my RMS replacement, my cab motor replacement and a bunch of other stuff. Very reliable.

When I was looking for coverage on my Mercedes a few years ago, I looked at about 8 companies. They seemed to be the best of the bunch, but I took the second place choice since they we're 800 dollars less for a bit more coverage in years.
If I had to do it over again, I definately would have bought from warranty direct. Every dealer service department I've spoken to has said they are excellent payers, which is really all you want in a warranty insurance company. They also sell their policies through a ton of dealerships, so they're reputation matters to them. I'd gop for it if they'll cover your car.

which policy did you guys buy from them? Major care or extra care? I believe it's around 2k for a 4 year warranty for major care from them and 4k for a comprehensive extra care warranty.

$1500 for basic, which covers seal, electronics/electrics and other majors. 4years or 60k. 100 deductable.

Since you have a 2001, they probably won't give you a policy. I believe some of these co's only write policy's on cars that are 4 years or younger
