Leather cleaner like Lexol and an interior brush. Scrub it clean.

I use Zaino leather cleaner, then you could use Zaino leather conditioner.

I don't know what steering wheel you have (stock leather?) If so then riad has got it right!

Stop eating KFC in the car

What the others have said. I just used Lexol cleaner and conditioner. My wheel looks like new at 42,000 miles.

First clean it off with a 25/75 mixture of Simple Green (be sure to get the back side where the real finger jelly is), let dry, and then buff the leather with a cotton cloth. Finally feed the wheel with the leather food/conditioner of your choice.

It will then look like new.
