997 Mirrors on 996 (GT3)

997 Mirrors on 996 (GT3)
Hi
My OE 996 (GT3) mirrors are at just the height where they block my forward side view, e.g., going into a sharp left corner I can't see the corner because of them. While the 997 mirrors may not change this drastically, I'm thinking the open slot at its base may improve visibility.
Has anyone tried to fit the 997 mirrors on the 996? Do they fit?
Any other suggestions?
