Default How to remove PSE dashboard switch

Hi guys,

My PSE switch was wired the wrong way by my Porsche Center when they fitted my car's PSE: they connected the switch lighting circuit so that it's on when the car's headlight are off! I've never really been bothered by this since I knwo exactly where the switch is and have no trouble finding it at night, especially as it's the only switch on my center console that isn't lit

However since last week this has become a much bigger issue for me as the switch now seems to have developped a short: whenever I turn the headlights on, the switch automatically goes on "silent mode", i.e. it turns on. Very annoying. I'm sure it's a simple fix but I don't know how to remove the center console's switch tab and I don't want to risk breaking it. Can anyone give me any pointers?

I should point out that my car is a 2003 986 Boxster S (I'm posting here because it's the same console as the 996 and I reckon there's more people on this board with PSE experience). So it's the later PSE and the later console. There's a mod on Renntech explaining how to remove the console to fit a rear spoiler switch but that seems to be a three-part console. Mine looks like it has only one part...

Thanks to anybody that can help.

The upper center console can be pulled out.
Just use a flat screwdriver at the lower side.
No need to remove the radio/PCM.

The switches are attached to the backside of the console.
If you put the switches back in, you need to push pretty hard to get them in place again.
