ROW m30 vs pss9 vs bilsteins and springs
2000 c2 cab. I came from a 993 and the 996 feels a bit soft and floaty. Any recommendations on suspension mods. I have a friend who loves his row m30, but my mechanic recommended euro springs with bilstein shocks. . Thanks for any opinions.

If you do a search on m30 you'll see a lot of discussion on this topic. I think it mainly depends on your driving style. I had the row m30 installed two months ago and love the change!

Alan. I realize you had the PSS9's on your car for a very short time before going X74 for auto-x rules reasons...but can you compare and contrast between the two setups? I can't ever seem to find published spring rates for the X74.

First, it sounds like both your friend and your mechanic are talking close to the same thing. Find it if your friend has an M030 (US sports suspension) or a ROW M030 (European sports suspenion). They are not the same. ROW M030 is a little lower and stiffer. They do use the same sway bars. The factory sport shocks are made by Bilstein in both cases. A ROW M030 is a good compromise since the ride height is reasonable (about 1" lower), ride is firner (but tolerable), all the components are matched and it is hard to beat the price. It is a complete suspension with springs, shocks, sway bars, bushings and bump stops in a single box for about $1K.
If you are looking to track your car and desire to corner weight and tune the dampening, then PSS9's are the way to go.

Andy,
With the PSS9 at near full stiff the ride on the track and street was similar to the X74. I might give the nod to the X74 on track, hard to say. For the street the PSS9 dialed to soft was a winner. In both cases I used GT3 bars.
It was interesting when setting the suspension the PSS9 gave me more camber in front with the adjustment maxed out. PSS9 = -1.6, X74 = -1.1.
That may be due to the PSS9 setup sitting slightly lower in the front. However, I have not gone back after the car has settled. C4SSurgeon stated that the car will settle after a few weeks and my car does look a bit lower.
I don't think you could go wrong with either setup. On sale at Gert's the X74 is a very good deal.
