Default New to the 996 World

Hey All,

I've been doing some soul searching and I think it's time to sell the race car (73 911) and get into a newer street legal car. While my first thoughts were a 95-98 993 (sorry guys I really do love the air cooled cars) I did a little research and found I could get into a 99 or 00 996 for about the same price. Those cars are really holding their value. So, I think I'll look at the newer cars.

I feel pretty good with my knowledge of the early 911's up till the late 80's, but I'll admit I don't that much about the newer cars. I'd like to get some links to some online resources to learn about the 996. Is there anything I need to look out for when looking at these cars? I'm not planning to buy until the Spring, so I have lots of time to do research. Thanks in advance for any advice you guys can provide.

Rennlist has plenty you can learn from. Do a search on the year that you are looking to buy, if you want to get technical you can always search renntech.

Dont be sorry that you love aircooled 911's, 996's owners got a thing for aircooled too.
