Thumbs up Road Trip Results

Well...it was the first decent length road trip for the 996 this weekend. And, we fit the baby seat, stroller, diaper bag, wife & 4 week old infant, and all the other little baby things needed for a day trip with a infant. We went from Orange County to San Diego for a figure skating competition that my wife's team was in. The 996 was awesome. Very smooth and comfortable, although I would've rather taken the twisty route. Gotta wait for better head control from my son for that. Anyways, I got 21.5 MPG for the trip. I thought that was pretty decent. Not sure what it should be though. We averaged between 80-100 mph most of the time. We hit 103 on the 5 and it felt like about 80 in my old M3. This car is smooth at high speeds. Can't wait for the next trip. By the way, a folded up stroller fits nicely on the tray behind the rear seats. I had to take my subwoofer out for this though.

Sounds like a great trip! What kind of subwoofer do you have? Would you recommend it? The stock stereo is ok, not much punch in the bass though...

My first child is due in April and I haven't bought a car seat yet. What kind do you have and how does it fit? Thanks for the info!!!

It fits on the tray right behind the rear seats. It is built to look like a single flat panel exists behind the seats. I also have JL Audio speakers throughout the car replacing the OEM ones. It sounds awesome. The subwoofer really adds a lot of punchy bass to the sound. Really noticed the difference yesterday without the sub in.

The car seat is a Graco. I don't remember the model name. I'll have to check with my wife. It has a base that the seat clips into for ease of transferring between multiple vehicles. However, I don't use the base in the Carerra. I do take the seat bottom off and the child seat fits in there and you can use the shoulder belt with it. The front passenger seat has to go pretty far forward but my wife is pretty small so she was pretty comfortable. A forward facing seat will give much more room when he's old enough.
