Why does removing the seat set the Airbag light?
I was trying to find a squeak coming from the left side of my interior this weekend. I removed the passenger sport seat to see if the squeak was coming from the seat. I drove the car with out the seat and the squeak was stil there. I then replaced the seat (and re-attached the elec connectors). And as described in many a post, the air bag light set.
I read in the posts that I must go to the dealer to get the light reset.
My question is why does the air bag light set instead of the seat belt light?
I also am also wondering what the second female seat belt latch under the passenger seat (centered under the front seat cushion and attached to a bar) is for? A baby seat?
thanks in advance
Jon

I thought that would only happen for the driver seat.
In any case, the bag detonates in a different manner if the seat belt is fastened vice if it is not. If there is a failure of the seat belt switch, they want you to get it attended to right away. I think they chose the air bag lamp over the seatbelt lamp because people would likely take it more seriously.
No idea on a second receiver, I've never seen such a thing.

Thanks, there is nothing wrong with my seat belt switch, I triggered the light when I drove around the block with the seat out of the car.
I'll post this in the turbo forum, maybe the extra female seatbelt connector only comes on turbos.

You don't really need to go to the stealer to get that code reset. If you are like most of us, you have a buddy who has an OBDII device or an attchment to a laptop which you can use to read/clear codes. Ask around.

I tried to clear the code with my reader, it wasn't able to. I thought the only way to clear the code was with a dealer pst2 device?
