Weirdness on my '01 C4 cab.

The paint is Guards Red. It is the original paint. I know that to be a fact even though I am the 2nd owner.

The option sticker shows the paint code as L84R. This code is listed in other threads as Arena Red Metallic.

Trying to figure this out. Could other posts here be incorrect? Does anyone have a link to a Porsche reference for these codes?

I saw another post identical to this so I'm evidently not the only one in this situation...

 

Thati's incorrect I think. Don't know that the code is for Arena Red metallic but it looks like this. Here's mine. Maybe somebody goofed?

That 'R' is probably an 'A'

Guards Red: 80K through the '00 model year, THEN switched to code 84A.

On my old '99 I noticed the code was 84A and it also looked like an R at first.

Arena Red is only available as a paint to match color. I think the color was discontinued with the 993, but could be ordered as a special option. My code says L84S, but I thought that was the engine code number.

Arena Red is definitely 84S and 84R
Guards Red is 84A and 80K

Ask me how I know My 996 is arena red and you could only order it through the 2000MY.
