Need advice on 48000 mile service
My '99 C4 is due it's annual service. Its last service was Jan '02 at 22800 (which was an official UK dealer 24000mile service). My UK dealer says I should have the full 48000miler because the car's 4 years old, even though its only done 28000 now. This would cost an extra 500 quid (= $loads). Any advice on how necessary this really is, because I'm tempted to leave the 48000 'till next year and just have an annual now ? Any opinions welcome.

Follow your maintenance manual... regardless of what someone else tells you. I think your dealer is just trying to make money... even though you are 20,000 miles away from that scheduled maintenance. If a dealer told me to come 20,000 early for a service maintenance I would look for a another dealer.
Shame on him! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" />

The car needs a service every 12000 miles or year whichever comes first right? Year 4= 48k service. I would have it done, but then I am used to 964 running costs. What's £500 though?

WELLLLL Thats not exactly true Christer... The annual service means changing the oil and checking over the car NOT the FULL 48k service. Read your manual it tells you your service intervals in pretty good detail. Although many advocate more frequent oil changes I have NEVER heard anyone suggest more frequent major services unless you are tracking or running your car extremely hard!
