Default Whistling noise on '02 911 Cab above 85mph

Are there any other 911 Cab owners that have had to deal with a "whistling noise" when driving above 85mph? If so, could you please let me know what was causing this noise, and how you were able to fix it. If not, do any of you know what might be causing it? Thanks in advance for your assistance.

The noise sounds like it is coming from the windshield area, and is caused by the higher velocity of the air moving over the car when driving over 85mph. The whistling noise occurs regardless of whether the top is UP or DOWN. The only modification to the front of the car is a TechArt front spoiler lip, but the whistling noise does not sound like it is coming from that low on the car.

I think it could be coming as a result of the spoiler changing the air flow over the front hood. The front hood can be adjusted to sit flatter (when you click it down) so you may want to try that first. Think of the gap between the hood and the bumper as creating 'lips' that can whistle. I used to have this problem on my Boxster S and the problem was resolved very quickly by the service tech as I stood watching. Now mind you, I did have an OEM bumper but I can't imagine that TechArt isn't super good quality so this shouldn't be an issue.

Isn't 85 mph over the speed limit?

the whistling sound could be coming from the Highway Patrol.

I also had the "hood whistle" on my Boxster that nycebo mentions. Eliminated by adjusting the leading edge of the hood lower than the adjacent bumper cover elevation. About 1/8" to 3/16".

Mine whistles too but it is my wife simulating police sirens from the passenger seat...usually happens around 90mph. I would fix the problem but it would be too expensive!

Might just be people on the side of the road whistling "WOW" as your car goes by....
