Rattling exhaust tip :(
Hey guys,
Today when I was out cruising my right exhaust can/tip started rattling on idle, loud to, so I went out of the car to have a look at it and found out that if I pressed it with my hand, just with little force, it stopped and got quiet..
I tried to take the tip of and even sprayed it with some WD40 before but it still wont even budge..
What to do? This is really annoying and bugging the hell out of me, I just bought this car
The car is a MY2003 and has the PSE Tequipment exhaust with the dualpipes...
Thanks in advance!

The rattle is at idle, any ideas guys? It sounds like an old Volvo
Thanks!
BTW, how did you make out on your ewheel/tire issue? I didn't see an update or any "after" pics with the new wheels & tires.

The baffels should sound all the time and even when cold right? This comes and goes at idle, when I press the tip it goes away
The reason you havenät gotten an update is I it is not fixed yet, I changed to -2 degree camber and it made the problem even worse?!?! Unbeliaveble I know but it did
Now I have to change the rear tires to make the problem go away, I just don't want my beefy/fat 295 Michelin's to go
Thanks for remembering me!

Nope, the baffles generally only make a noise at tick-over. Put your boot over the exhaust and if it stops rattling (and dont burn your shoe either!) then its probably the baffles...

I have a similar issue. I'm sure it is one the baffles inside. I thought it was a heat shield or something loose, but upon inspection, there are no heat shields, and the tip and pipes are all secure. It's the right one on my car too. It isn't bad, and it doesn't do it every time. It is just at idle.
What is tick over?

tick-over = idle!
Divided by language I think!
PS When I renewed my boxes I found some almost new ones with the flexi-joint on the inlet pipe - it made the engine feel a lot smoother.

It might not be the muffler at all. Rather, it might be the ceramic baffles inside the catalytic converter. They can break lose and rattle at idle when there is not enough back pressure to keep them pinned into place. At speed, or if you block up the exhaust with your foot, you can pin it back into place so it no longer rattles. To check whether it is the cat, get under the car (it can be off) and bang the cat gently with a rubber (all of you perverts out there should get your minds out of the gutter and just wait for the end of the sentence) If it sounds solid, it is probably not the cat. If you can hear the rattle, then it is probably the cat. This can be caused by unburnt fuel igniting in the cat. Check your plugs.
