Post Titamium window tint

Does anyone have pics of a 996 with "titanium" window tint? As I understand, this type of tint gives a silvery reflection. Would you rather have the typical black tint? Which tint manufacturer would you recommend, and what types of tint film?

An installer mentioned that the titanium tint would interefere with the antenna and radio reception; is this true from your knowledge or experience?

I saw one of these on a parked 996 cab in Vancouver and I had to drive around the block and look at the car again. I don't know where you get them but it looked "tight" as the kids say nowadays. "Tight" is a good thing, by the way!

My car has the titanium tint. From what I understand the titanium tint is referring to the type of tint film and not the color/reflective finish of the film itself. Point aside, the reflective finish is a personal decision that is dependent on your bling bling factor. Some might like it... while I rank it in the same catagory as 20" spinners and altezza lights (IMHO).

Oh yea...

Look for tint by Llumar. Also look for a shop that has been around for a while and will stand behind their work.

I have no problems with my radio reception, but I did not do a strip across the windshield.

Nice house, Don!
Regarding the installation of tint on 996's, how does the installer deal with the 1/2 inch lowering of the glass when the door is open? I suppose the easy answer is that they install it with the door closed. But doesn't the film need to "cure" a few hours before you can move the windows?

I have tint on mine. The installer just jammed something in the clamp, mechanism, hole(not sure right word)of the door jam that simulated the door being shut. My car is 50% tint but I wish that I would have went darker. As far as titanium tint goes, do you mean like the "mirror tint"? Iv'e seen it on a few cars(never porsches) but am still unsure of my opinion on it. It definitely turns your head though

With Regard to the WINDOW lowering 1/2 inch, they will most likely pull the fuse for that mechanism. That's what they did on my convertable BMW. Once the tint cures for a week, pop the Fuse back in.

Sicaone. Do you have a picture of your car with 50% tint. I was thinking about going with that degree. Not sure if it is going to be too light for me.

Cableguy,

Go to my friends bodyshop website. There are pictures there. I suck at posting pictures. There are pictures of the 50% in the day light. I would have personally gone with 35%.

Thanks for teh Photo. The 50% looks good. I can see what you want to go a little darker. I think in my area where tint is illegal, I'd get less hassle with the lighter,
