I usually buy Mobil 1 at Kragan Auto Parts. They are a nationwide chain, but don't know if you have one near you in New York. I've even found it at K-Mart. Price is right around $4 a quart at either place. I imagine you could find it on the internet as well. $8 is highway robbery (must be a Porsche dealership)

Gotta agree with Mike here Dranon - you got ripped off at $8/qt if that's what you paid retail. $4 to $4.50 is all you should be paying retail. Walmart, Kmart, Target, etc. all should have it for the lower price.

I think the Mobil 1 0W40 is not yet commonly available at stores which otherwise carry the Mobil 1 product. However, I have heard that many oil distributors are willingly selling this oil by the case at below $5 a quart.

Porsche dealership charged me this much. The gal at k-mart checked into it for me and she could only get 0W30. Why cant they just order whats available? I'm going to check some other sources

There was a post on funcarsonline.com about this oil and that it wasn't available in the U.S. (retail) except at dealers since this was the recommended fill for 996TT and some Mercedes. They suggested going to a M-B Dealer as they should have it in bulk.
Here is info on a distributor that can ship it to you:
"Here is a dist. in St. Louis which sells the oil for $26.00 a case of 6 quarts. This is 0W40 Mobil 1

Wallace Lubricants
636-677-8809

Chicago
Boncoski Oil
847-741-2577
$25.33 per case of 6 quarts
