new 996 cab purchase
I am interested in ordering a pretty simple 996 cab towards the end of this summer. I think this would make it a 2004 model? Basically, just want the stock car with hardtop delete. I am interested in finding the least exspensive deal. I am used to buying cars from Florida, New Jersey (not recent), Ohio and Colorado. Basically asking for the best price (percentage?) over invoice if possible.
Any ideas what range would be and any specific dealers who are looking to deal right now?
Your feedback is appreciated
Thanks, Rob

Don't fall into the trap about going cheap when it comes to the options.
I ordered a 03 996 cab in Nov 2002 and I am regretting not ordering the Litronic (xenon) and the Bose sound options.
I got Heated seats, rain sensor, parking radar, 18" wheels, dimming mirrors.
You only get one chance with the options... if u are not sure and u can afford it.. GET IT!!! hehe

If you' have no compunction against buying cars from the East Coast I would recommend Evan at Manhattan Motors. They have the largest allocation in the NY metro area. I suggest ordering in July to make the Sept. build. I ordered my '02 cab from Manhattan Motors in July 2001 and got delivery in Oct. 2001. At the time, Manhattan Motors had an allocation of six cabs a month from Porsche. They hadn't sold all their Sept. allocation when I ordered and I was able to get a few thousand off MSRP.

IMHO, if you are looking for the best possible deal, buy a car from stock. I've done it both ways, and buying from stock saves the most dough. The key is to find a car that, for whatever reason (usually color or color combo), is in danger of becoming a museum piece on the dealer floor. This requires you to regularly cruise the local dealers and observe what's been there for a while. Sometimes you can end up buying a lot more car for the money than if you order it and get the standard deal du jour. If you are going to buy the car and keep it for a while, don't worry too much about model year differences, etc.- the difference will show up in the sales price near the end of the model year. Finally, find something you like, pull the trigger, and enjoy it. Sometimes we spend too much time in hand-wringing over the exact best time to buy a car, or squeezing the last penny out of the deal. This is supposed to be fun- enjoy it.

Bigsky, you can also check dealer inventory thru www.porsche.com dealers, etc.
(Darren, you got a nice deal!)

Porsche recently started "suggesting" to their dealers to get rid of any C4 Cabs in stock. Apparently a C4S Cab is cooming in 2004 along with the Turbo Cab. So, if you are looking for a C4 Cab you should be able to get pretty close to invoice. On a C2 Cab at the end of the summer I would also say you can get for slightly over invoice if you shop around enough. You will pay more early to mid summer as demand is greater. But towards fall most dealers start looking to just unload their cabs.
