Default Problem with acceleration on 3rd and 4th gear – need your help

Hello,

I have 1998 Porsche 996 3.4 tiptronic euro version. Lately I have discovered strange symptoms when accelerating. When I accelerate in 3rd or 4th gear half or ¾ throttle the car starts to jerks unpleasantly around 5 800 to 6 300 RPM. (like is missing a gasoline). Sometimes the light from engine temperature start blinking, but my coolant tank is full, temps are normal. When I stop and turn of the engine and fire it up everything seems to be normal. When I do the same acceleration full throttle everything seems ok. Also I am observing that on 3rd and 4th gear the car will not accelerate very rapidly form 6 000 RPM on. (but this might me wrong). Anyone have idea what might be wrong? The car is stock, serviced by Porches dealer. I would appreciate any help.

Since the problem only seems to occur in 3rd & 4th gear I suspect that you have a transmission problem. Your acceleration should be very strong at 6,000 RPM as that is right in the "meat" of your power band.

Good luck, I hope it's not serious!!
