C4S cabriolet?

At this time, Porsche has no plans to build either a Cabriolet C4S or Turbo, although there are actually deposits in place for them in case of the off chance that they surprise us.

Well, in my experience, PAG always seem to go against immediate expectation then retract at a later date.
When I first purchased a 2.5ltr Boxster, I heard rumours of the 986 S at the time back in 1998 however my local dealer denied all knowledge and claimed such a car would not make sense and PAG WOULD NEVER BUILD A BOXSTER WITH PERFORMANCE that could undermine its flagship model - 996.........hmmmmmmmm.
So I settled for the STD 2.5ltr instead of shifting my deposit. Well the 986 S did come out and performance was not far off a 996 Cab (C" or C4).
I have reservations about the usual PAG attitude - deny now admit later. The fact is they just cannot make enough cars because of increased market appeal. I was reading about BMW being in the same predicament with their M3 Coupes & cabs – i.e. inability to meet demands.
I am again at the crossroads of upgrading from my current ’99 C2 Cab to an ’02 C2 or C4 only to find that the waiting list is 12mths – what a bum! The few ’02 Cabs available are selling at premiums with specs I do not want – like cup holders & folding mirrors!
I have pressurised my local dealer about a C4S Cab or a TT Cab and on this occasion he comments “PAG would not release a product that would further lengthen the waiting-list”.
Point taken however IF BMW, Mercs and Fez can produce Coupes & Cabs in varying engine sizes & specs, why can’t PAG do the same? After all, the TT is supposed to be a direct competition to an F360 Modena and the forth coming Mercs SL – both come in a cab or Coupe...hmmmmmmmm
Moan, moan, moan moan moan………….and more moans!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just my 2 cents worth.

Porsche's US mfg figures for 2002 are:
C4S-1668
Cab-3605
C4Cab-1438
I don't see how Porsche would get a great ROI by designing an "S" Cab. They didn't with the 993 before the changeover to 996, and with a supposed changeover in 05, it's probably not worth their time and expense. Given that logic, Porsche will probably do it.
