Default PSS9 Coilover Upgrade Poll

My car is in the shop right now getting a new alternator. I've never used this shop before but they have a couple of successful racecars on the SCCA circuit and their facilities are SUPER impressive. They are quoting me 12 hours of labor to install new PSS9's. At their rate of $87.50 / hour that comes out to around $1000. My impression after reading historical posts here and on other sites is that this is too much!

We would all benefit by seeing the results of a quick poll of how much we paid for new Bilstein Pss9's, how much it cost to install them, and what was included in the install.

1) I paid < $2000 for my PSS9's (yes/no)
2) I paid < $2500 for my PSS9's (yes/no)
3) I paid < $600 for installation (yes/no)
4) I paid < $1100 for installation (yes/no)
5) Installation included alignment (yes/no)
6) Installation included a skid plate (yes/no)
7) Installation included corner-balancing (yes/no)

I installed them myself in less than 4 hours using a low rise lift. The alignnment and corner balance was $325.00. So I guess $1000.00 sounds a little high.

Don't recall what I paid for parts, install was $0 (took just over 2 hours in the driveway.) Paid the dealer $149 for an alignment.
I have a set of PSS9's for sale. $1,5OO/OBO. Just under 7000 miles, no leaks or problems. Shoot me a PM if interested.

Hey Alan,

Ive been told that removing the old springs can be dangerous. Any tips on doing this install?

Once out of the car I just pushed down on the top hat and removed the nut. Of course you need to loosen the nut first. I used an impact wrench to loosen the nut. There wasn't much pressure on my springs. Yours may differ.

I also had no problem removing the stock suspension and installing ROW 030 on my car (which required dismantling the existing struts).
