Default Tire Confusion

I picked up this flyer at local dealer. I now know why there is so much confusion about tires, the company makes it that way. I put on 18" 225/40 and 265/35 tires. The flyer list 5 tires for the front and 2 tires for the rear. Does that mean only the the rear tires listed paired with the same front tires are approved even though there are sizes and N ratings for more than those 2 sets? Hell, I don't know. Something must of got lost in the translation. I went with the PS Rib N1 all around. The PS Rib is not on the approved list for the rear. Go figure.

You must have a 99-01 996. On your car, the rear size is 265. On 02+, the rear size is 285. 225 Front and 285 Rear will give you all 5 tire choices. Of those, S02 would be my choice with Pzero Rosso as my second choice.

I just got a set of rear Rosso at a local tire shop. I think I'm going to order from Tire Rack next time and have my dealer install them. I don't trust tire shop any more. they put 33psi in my rears. Price wise is only about $50 difference.

I think it's a typo... no way they can recommend mixing and matching between brands...

The brochure is inaccurate. For example...The Continental ContiSportContact 2 (N2) does come in the 265/35R18. Also the Dunlop SP Sport 9090 (N0) comes in the 225/40R18 and the 265/35R18 sizes (which were the factory specs. for 99-01 996). Also the Michelin Pilot Sport Rib (N1) comes in the 225/40R18 and 265/35R18 sizes. The Pirelli PZero Rosso (N4) also comes in the correct sizes. None of which are listed on the brochure.

In my experience Tire Rack has more accurate information with regard to what tires come in what sizes and what are N spec (if that is important to you) and what are not.
