Post More Aluminum Gauge Face questions

Does anyone have experience with NR gauge faces? A post from a couple of days ago suggested that they are a quality producer but that he did not know if the faces bleed light through, which is a key question. Their website does not have a picture of the 2002 996 faces, so I do not know if it shows the redline at 7200 or if the NR logo is prominent on the tach. The reason for all my questions is that the Techart faces are around $500 and the NR faces are $300. N. Hollywood Speedo http://www.nhspeedometer.com/sells them and also will install them in the console for $100, which sounds reasonable.

I've never seen the NR guages but someone on the funcarsonline board was just complaining that they arent great, look good during the day but at night the lights "bleed" through.

I have the techart guages on my '02 C4S (dealer installed) and I like them ok. No bleed through and it doesnt say techart anywhere on them. The oly thing I dont like is that they must be '01 guages b/c the redline starts at 7000.

I just installed a set of the the NR guage faces in my '99 C2. They were white not aluminum but I was told that the lighting characteristics are the same. I love the wy they look during the day but I am not crazy about them at night. The light comming through the numbers and indicators is "blotchy" for lack of a better word. It actually looks textured like putting a flashlight up to a paper bag. I called the guys at NR auto to see if I got a bad batch or that is just like it is. It's hard to describe on the phone so he told me to send a picture. I will do this soon. I was planning to post on this issue to see if anyone else had an opinion on this. Let me know if you find out more.

I've done NR 3 times and they are all the same. they bleed at night. period. They claim they don't and they are full of baloney. if they admitted they bleed, nobody would buy them. just keep your expectations low when buying them for night use.

all that said, i would still buy them.

oh, forgot to add that I used north hollywood speedo for all the installs. its not their product so not their fault. they are absolutely the best at this hands down. I completely trust them with my rides.

Excuse me for my ignorance but I don't understand what is meant by the term "bleed" at night. Does "bleeding" mean there is a non-uniform light distribution like what I tried to descride in using my term "blotchy"? Also do you know if the Techart or Porsche aluminum gauge faces "bleed"?
