Post BK harness Bar and power seats....HELP!!

OK. The instructions say remove the outside rear seat track mounting bolt. Done that. Remove the seat stop bracket by gently prying upward to pop out the plastic retaining pin. I've tried gentle to herculean, stopping short of bending the darn track, and the seat stop won't pry upward. Maybe what I am identifying as the seat stop bracket ain't? Maybe 2002 C4S power seat isn't what they tried it on? Does anyone have a schematic? Loren? HELP!!! Before I get frustrated and take a grinder or bolt cutter or hacksaw to the darn thing. I've got almost everything else done.

Palting - I sent you an email.

LanceK - GT3 seats are pretty straight forward with the right tools (Torx E12). Here is a link GT3 Seat install

Did you find all the info you needed, Palting? I've put one of those in my '00 C4 w/power seats.

OK. I gave up. I know I am not mechanically challenged, but maybe seat stop challeged. I just could not take the sucker off. I took a hacksaw and grinding wheel to that thing. No, no, not the seat, heaven forbid. The BK bracket. I shortened it to make up for the unremovable (!!!!) seat stop. Here's what the original and the modified ones look.

So, maybe there is some loss of strength, but right now, I DON'T CARE!! Maybe when I see it on another car, I can figure it out. Most likely, before then, I'll have the GT3 seats, and I'll either get new brackets from BK, or a roll bar. We'll see what a DIY challenge it is going to be to put in a Porsche Tequipment roll bar. You'll probably hear me ranting again at that time,heh-heh-heh.

Thanks, all. Especially thanks, Loren.

Yikes!...I was anticipating an easy install of my GT-3 seats but....

What exactly was your problem...you couldn't pull the seat out?

Why did you have to shorten the brackets?

Lance,

Taking the seats out was not a problem. Easy as pie. I had them out in 5 minutes, and back in in another 5. The problem for me was getting the seat stop bracket, whatever that is, out. It supposedly easily lifts out. Either I could not identify the seat stop thingie properly and was trying to pop out something else, or my seat is not the same as the seat BK developed the harness bar with. I think I did identify the right thing, since it occupied the space that that little end of the BK bracket I took out was supposed to go into.

Replacing the seat with GT3 seats should (or should I say hope) be easy. The only problem I foresee is you have to figure out what to do with the electrics from the power seat and the seat belt sensor. I think the answer's in the archives somewhere.

Hmmmm...guess I'll have to make sure I've done some research before I install my seats. I figured 4 bolts out and in and I'm done!...lol

Let us know how you make out.

Lance,
Don't waste your time researching anything. It is four bolts out & in.

Well, if you want the electricals to be an easy plug in swap, I guess you might want to research that.

But still, trust me. It's easy!

Thing is, that guy has manual seats. Oh, well. I guess one of us will find out what problems thare are, and hopefully share solutions.

I also got the brackets for the Schroth 6 point harnesses installed. That was a breeze. One caveat. The spacers for the outside belt mount come in two pieces per side. The piece that goes against the car is thin enough to fall through the carpet into depths unknown in the cars underpan. I used a tiny dab of silicone glue to keep the two spacers together. You'll see what I mean when you get your stuff, Lance.

Concerning the belt options from the FVD site"

"The only connector that you will need are the plugs for the seat belt receptacles which will go back in the large plug and transferred to the GT3 seat which has the proper mount for the harness connector. A pre-made belt receiver and electrical plugs can be ordered and installed prior to shipping for a complete bolt-in installation, this is an additonal charge. If you would like to use the factory 6-point harness and eliminate the use of the standard seat belt, your air bag control unit can be re-coded for that. This can only be done by someone that has access to the Porsche System Tester 2. It is very unlikely that a Porsche dealer would re-code the control unit for ths application."

If you install the plug that comes attached to the receiver in the hood that is available (two separate pieces, I can look up the part numbers if you need me to), it will mate with the same connector that the stock seat does. The power connections and seat heat connections can just be ignored. That makes the seat simple to switch.

Palting,
What are the B-K part numbers of the equipment you are installing?
