Not really. Yeah the C2 and C4 cost a lot less than the Turbo, but an evenly equipped C2 will cost more or at least the same than a C4S. Additionally a C4 optioned out like a C4S is more money. A cabriolet, with the approx. $10k premium over the coupe, certainly tops out more than a C4S. The GT3 is the only top end narrowbody with a base price of around a $100k. Grant it none of that compares with the premiums of the GT2 and Turbo for the widebodies, but still comparing the standard lineup of 996's: C2, C4, C4S (coupe and cab). This was all without the Targa which also is supposedly going for a price which should rival any other standard 996. To be honest when I searched for my car I realized it didn't matter much which incarnation of the coupe I was going to purchase, pricewise. They all came out to be roughly the same within a thousand or two dollars, when equipped with the same options. I think the appeal of the narrowbodies has little to do with cost.

I think it comes down to personal preference, i definitely like the wide body. If you like the compactness of narrow body, you should go with it.
No denying that Don's car is hot, but, may be because of the c4s bumpers

I agree with Mark, narrow bodies just don't do it for me - I think someone posted a while back that two cars in a showroom - a heavily optioned C2 aero coupe and a mostly bone-stock C4S were next to each other and the C4S got way more attention than the coupe.
I would (and may) only get rid of my C4S for a Turbo X50.

I think the widebody is quite voluptuous - love the flanks.
But isn't the whole idea behind wider rear fenders to make room for the turbos/intercoolers? So without them, it's just wider for wider's sake.
I'd like to see all 911's shrink, not grow. We're only talking about a few inches, but I prefer the tightest skin possible on any sports car. Keep the flanks, shrink the rest.
C4S's/Turbo's do look hot, though, all bubble-butted and hunkered down!
