Default Which wire to grab for a power outlet

I bought a 997 power outlet to install in my new 02 996 for my phone charger so it isn't hanging from the cig lighter all day. Thinking the best place to install it is in the carpet panel just in front of the padded center console that holds the CD holder. Since I am new to the car and do not have a wiring diagram can anyone help me locate a good power wire that will go off when the key is off to tap into?

Thanks

There should be at least one switched spare fuse location in your fusebox; it should be listed on the inside of your fuse panel/cover.
The fuse location # has been discussed before for hardwired radar detector installs IIRC.

There is a power "plug" that is used for a cell phone adapter located in the center console in the area of the shifter. It has both a switched and unswitched wire, along with a ground connection for your use. I used it for a recent sat radio install. Good luck.

Here is a pretty detailed description of where to tap into the cell phone power wires
