wow tbr623, - much better luck than me. I bought my 99 c2 used from Dan Rosen Porsche in early 2004 and it was Porsche certified (for 2 years). During that period the official Porsche warrantee covered nothing (hole in coolant hose, seat belt buckles). I even called Porsche North America on the seat buckles and they said, "tough." The Porsche certification program was fairly new, then.

So I gave up on warrantees and am taking my chances. I love the car, though, and other than those niggling items it has been fantastic. FYI, I am also disabled/retired. And my fingers are crossed. Permanently.

Ummm... that post was from 2002. And the poster hasn't posted since early 2003. Might be a longshot asking for a reply.

PS I checked Alldata, they list the replacement price for a 996 6 speed at $7730.00!!a replacement motor over 18K!!
What a great price that warranty is - with the problems I had, that would have saved me enough for a nice Panerai or something.

Holy resurrection batman!!

I was wondering how the hell a 99 was still under factory warranty, I was seriously confused to say the least.

We chastise people for not searching before they post, and criticize them for searching too far back. Tough crowd.

Having just read an article in total 911 about what can go wrong with the early 3.4l engine I am glad I have my warranty. I am told Porsche will not extend beyond 7yrs. Having said that my car is just great with 63k on the clock and the advice was to drive them hard. The ones that go are the ones left unused for days. I must say its the best advice I have ever read and I thrash mine at the track and it loves me for it.

PS the article did say that ony5% have issues so statistically its still a good buy.

Jeez, calm down!

I'm trying to find out info on a '00 C4 cab that just went up for sale, so I'm in do-it-fast mode. Did a search for "API" and found this thread.

My bad for not noticing the date.

I use RepairMaster which cost me 2500 bucks for 6yrs/72k miles. They have been awesome so far and I've had failed tiptronic, radio, oxygen sensor, replaced the engine lifters and DME. It's been fun...

They didn't pay for radiator cooling hoses leaking (plastic parts).
