Groan/creak when turning
Anybody else have any experience with hearing some groaning and creaking when turning the steering wheel when the car is stationary or moving slowly? I think it's a bad idler arm, but for no reason other than that's the only thing I can think of that can cause creaking when you turn. Any other ideas?

BTW, you even hear it if you turn the wheel a little with the car parked and engine off. Still under warranty so it's off to the dealer tomorrow, I'm just curious. Why is it that a 4 year old Porsche has the same problems (control arm or idler arm dont know, coolant tank leak, starter issues) that my MB only had after 20 years? Actually, that MB has never had a coolant tank leak...

Suspension creaks aren't typically caused by the major suspension components themselves (idler arms, control arms, etc.), rather, they're caused by the bushings between these items. Have you driven your car through any deep puddles lately? Hmmmm. BTW, if you want to hear major creaking in a brand-new car, try a race-prepared car with solid bushings - the noise is major! Fortunately, guys who have race-preped cars tend to only complain about lack of horsepower, not creaking noises. Also, once you're at speed in a race car you don't hear stuff like that.

Yeah, it was just some dirt in the bushings, some wurth hhs2000 took care of it. I hear you on the race cars, but this is no race car, it's an expensive german car with leather seats, a cd player, and air conditioning. It just happens to handle well and go fast.
