Does anyone know how to make both of our rear fog lights on ??? Thx in advance... <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" />

There was a discussion on boxa.net about this. It really should be just one. The rationale I have heard, and believe, is that it prevents confusion if one (of two) were burnt out, which side to pass on. Also, it avoids confusion with brake lights.

well if you pull out the fog light twice then that's the rear, I would imagine that if you were to tap that filament's wire and run it across to the other's then that would do what you want, but that would be like the brake lights on all the time, which is pretty lame IMHO. Almost reminds me of Ambers back in the street racing days, heheh.

But I've seen alot of 993s in Euro area do have 2 rear foglights came standard???

I think that would have to be one of those "That was then, this is now" things.

FWIW, my Audi A6TT and Benz E430 both had one rear fog light...on the driver's side rear. I guess 2 would be better if in fact you were in bad fog...if the purpose was to warn people behind you that were driving faster than you were. I've seen many people use their rear fog unnecessarily and if there were 2 it would be confusing (and maybe illegal in US??)

I disabled the fog wire/circuit in favor of extending brake circuit into outer lens on both sides. Gives a much more noticeable "pronouncement" that I'm on the brakes.

If you extend fogs to both sides most folks will just assume you're riding the brake pedal.

People seem to routinely misuse the rear fog lamp, in part because they are using the front fogs for appearances or "close-up" visibility, and just automatically engage the rear lamp. My experience is that most people do not understand what occurs when they switch on the rear fog lamp. I know I did not until I turned it on one day and then got out of the car to look at what happens. I suspect that the majority of times you see a rear fog lamp lit, the driver has no idea what is looks like.

It can be distracting to follow a car with the lamp on when the weather conditions do not warrant it. To the uninitiated, it appears like one brake light is out and the driver is riding the brake. Few U.S. cars have this feature so it is not widely understood in this market anyway.

the fact that most americans don't understand the rear fog light probably means that they'le be more careful in approaching us from the rear <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="eek.gif" /> to me that's a good thing <img border="0" alt="[thumbsup]" title="" src="graemlins/bigok.gif" /> particularly given the abysmal quality of most u.s. drivers

How can one be more careful approaching if you can't be seen?

Personally if I felt it were really a point of concern I would mount an aircraft type flasher in the rear lens and use that during heavy fog.

Come to think of it didn't I just see one in the automotive section at Target?

I use my rear fog lamp and it does work.
I can't tell you how many times people have stopped me at a light telling me that my right rear lamp is out.

The fact they are telling me this proves that the rear fog lamp is doing what it is supposed to do and that is, make drivers who are approaching me in heavy fog or in poor driving conditions to notice me.
