Well the 2003 Subie WRX STI has finally come here and I saw it tonite but couldnt have the time enough to try it..

The sound of the engine was audible from about a mile away as the car was approaching my residence.. Mozart couldnt have produced a better symphony.

The looks of the car is definitely Hulk muscular. The interior is not impressive but the necessary short shifter, STI recaro seats, steering whell position and instrumentation just about right. The suspension is so firm you cant make the car bounce a single millimiter..

From the couple of guys who were riding the beast and the way I could hear the gear change as the car was coming by, I am sure this car is a definite kick a** for my carrera C2..

Tomorrow might be a duel but the owner is already a race driver (mille miglia smthg..) and owns a Carrera Turbo back home..

At least I have competition!

I'd hate to know what the quarter mile is compared to my megre C2..

Wait a minute, the european version of the 2003 WRX Sti only has 265HP! (and the other version avalilable is the regular WRX with 225Hp). What version is that with 300HP?

If the WRX STi your facing is this 300HP version, not the 265HP version, then you a going to get a run for your money <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" />

Still you should advantage him in top speed and brakes, handling being similar unless the surface is slippery.

Ok, I did some research, it seems that 300HP Sti has a 2.5l Turbo engine exclusive to the US market, while the other Sti's have the standard 2.0 Turbo engine with 265HP.

Did the guy with the Sti import it from the US, because otherwise its probably the 265HP 2.0 engine

INTERESTING..

Carlos the UK version (it's a right hand drive you can see it clearly in CAR magazine) is 300bhp. They tested it on UK grounds (some Kielder Forest). And it's a 1994cc dohc 16v turbo four.

Looks like UK is similar in hp but not in displacement..

Well, the owner here is italian and he said he got it from italy (it's a LHD).

My italian is a little rusty <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" /> but seems like the italian version is the 2.0l with 265HP <img border="0" alt="[hiha]" title="" src="graemlins/roflmao.gif" />

Being the italian show off he is, he told me he asked STI italy to upgrade his car to 350hp.. and that STI refused to give him street homologation and that he didnt mind since he was exporting it here.. that his car upgrade ONLY cost him 50,000 euros, that he is only one step below of having a groupA rally machine..

My carrera has lost power trumendously due to the fuel pump problem, it is whinning now seriously high. It's even barely going above 5k rpm. I've sent it for a repair and i hope i'll find an equivalent bosh here..

Once my car is back to normal, it will be the only benchmark to test the integrity of the bonzai harakiri blended with italian bull$*@@ and ravioli stew along with the farting tenor of the 6in (is it?) exhaust..

don't forget to fix original Porsche fuel pump which will cost you like 300US$ to reach Nigeria
