Default HELP, rear seatbelt stuck.

996 C4S Cab, '04.

Put the back seats down for a few things the other day. Popped them back into place, now I can't move the seatbelt from it's closed and locked position on one of the seats. Can't even lower the seatback it's so tight in there.

Sheesh. Is there an easy release, or do I need to take the rear apart?

TIA

It is probably part of the child restraint system. The seat belts are designed that if the are pulled out all of the way they will lock as the slack goes back in. To release this lock you need to un latch the belt and let all of the slack feed back in...it will then unlock.

I had the same problem once with my passenger seat belt and as jsaindc pointed out, it's most likely due to the child restaint feature. I pulled out the belt inch-by-inch allowed by the ratchet lock and once I can't pull it anymore, I fed back the slack and repeat the cycle n times untill the thing unlocked. It took me like 45 minutes!.

You have an '04 so the worst is go back to the dealer and get it fixed under warranty.

Was not pulled out at all, no child restraint or passenger application. Just seems locked down. So I pushed HARD against the upper part of the seat, and FINALLY got that beast to give back.

Done, THANKS!!!!!
