Default recently fitted fabspeed CAI

I recently took delivery of the fabspeed cold air intake kit (CAI) plus a BMC F1 filter. Change over was a breeze but I was left wondering why I paid so much money for a small piece of cheap plastic and an orange hose.
I cannot notice any differnece in sound but I do have fabspeed mufflers and maybe that makes it harder to hear any difference.
ON a purely subjective basis (so far) the car does feel a little more responsive under throttle. If that's true then I dont know if thats the air filter or the CAI. I am not willing to replace the old filter to find out!

My guess is that its the filter and I wouldnt bother with the orange hose. I still cant figure out why the OEM has the little plastic box attachment ?
Interesting to hear from someone who has just changed the filter?
