Cool Traffic Pro Install Complete!

WAHOO!! <img src="graemlins/jumper.gif" border="0" alt="[jumper]" />

Finally tapped into the speed sensor off of the main contact behinf the instrument cluster. The install was very smooth other than that. Having DSP certainly complicated matters.

I had my sound system upgraded this weekend along with the upgrade to the Traffic Pro. Sound is still not perfect, but a killer upgrade nonetheless. Still just a tad of whine, but I'll be tweaking it this week with my installer. I did everything on the TP myself except for the revese gear sensor. My installer ran an extra lead to the fuse relay for the auto dim mirror that I'll be doing soon. Thanks to Gert for getting me the parts at a fantastic price and thanks to Kevin and Scott for the great directions.

First impressions of the TP are great. It has way more POI than my Benz and seems to know all of the streets around my area. Directions are clear and timely, and the unit is very easy to program. I recommend it to anyone looking for a compact NAV solution.

Question

Could you provide details on how to tap into the speed sensor for a car with DSP? Do I need to remove the dash to do this?

Parallel thoughts! I've been looking into a Nav unit myself and there in the August Excellence is an article on the TrafficPro and now this posting. I am/was considering going with an Alpine setup (CVA-1003 LCD Display, NVE-N852A Nav, CHA-S634 Changer), amp and new speakers. However I've used the TrafficPro in Germany and found it quite nice and unobtrusive. Plus I don't know how much quality audio I can really enjoy with the top down on my C2 Cab.
