Post T-Equipment

Has anyone bought something from "carnewal.com"?

I'm thinking of ordering a carbon or aluminium gear shift and handbrake lever.

Which do you think will look better in a 03 cab with black interior?

Does anyone know if you can change it yourself? The gear shift looks alot easier to change than the handbrake.

thanks

Chucksta

Well I thought the Carbon stuff looked pretty cool in the catalog until I saw it in real life!

Then I thought it looked AWESOME! I was initially afraid that it would look "cheap" but actually it looks very sporty. Probably because it's real carbon fibre. I like the center console, shift ****, ebrake handle. I wouldn't put anything on the upper dash personally since it doesn't look as "functional" even though most of it isn't...lol. I like it on the door handles/door panel as well.

Problem is the price! At this point I would rather have exhaust, short throw shifter, and other performance mods instead.

Chucksta - I bought the 996 CF shifter and ebrake for my 993 last Christmas. Installation (at least on my car) was a breeze and took about 20-25 working very slowly. Big thumbsup on the look and the quality of the pieces.

Gert is a class guy and is a straight shooter. His prices aren't as low as they used to be as the US$ has depreciated so much lately, but they're fair and he's great on customer service.

I'm in Australia. I dunno how much import tax duty I have to pay.

Does Gert supply the shifter with instructions on how to install it?

Are they brand new parts? Why are they SO much cheaper than porsche factory options?

thanks

They are brand new parts. Don't know how much duty you'll have to pay (my last order was sent to Hong Kong so no duty ) but Gert may have some idea...just ask him how much the "all-in" cost will be.

I didn't get any instruction with my shifter (instruction are available on p-car.com but only for 993s) but if you do a search on this forum, the topic has been covered numerous times in the past...I think it's about a "2" on a scale of "1 to 10" in terms of difficulty.

Porsche stuff in Australia is obscenely expensive...similar to prices in Hong Kong.
