Question Where and how to get more track time near San Diego/LA?

Any reco on how to get more track time for a student driver? I have no experience with autox/track so I need an instructor. The local PCA autox has 100+ participants so track time is limited.

How about POC? Would the STS (short track series) offer more track time per event and are they costly?

Also, would you recommend starting with parking lot autox or autox on a real track? Local PCA only offers autox and DE on parking lot.

Thanks in advance for any reco!

The POC STS offers a fair amount of track time. As a first timer, you'd stand to gain alot from the BMW CCA. The LA, San Diego, and Central California chapters offer GREAT classroom and in-car instruction...... especially for first timers.

I would highly recommend the STS with POC. I've been doing it for just over a year and have had a great experience. STS events run $2-250 for a weekend and you'll have 5 sessions of 15 - 20 minutes each. Once you do this, auto-x's will seem fairly boring...

Love POC. Great instructors there.
I would also suggest SpeedVentures, a mixed group track event organizer. If you can go on one of their weekday tracks events, you can get ALOT of track time. Prices are really reasonable also.

Wow! Didn't know there're so many options. Thanks for the info!

Speedventure looks interesting. They have like 100+ cars from diff makes for the coming event in Streets of Willow Spring. Since it's up to the driver whether to use an instructor, would safety be a concern?

Thanks,

BTW, I'll probably start with POC and BMWCCA first since they seem to be tightly run.

My good friend is an instructor at POC, and I myself am a member/student there. I suggest learning there.

Speedventures is a great place to go after getting some seat time first.
