Post H&R Sport Springs

Anyone recommend these?
H&R Sport Springs

I found these on TireRack, they are H&R Sport Springs for the 2002 Targa. Lowers car 1.25" in the front and 1.25" in the rear.

Is there any reason why I shouldn't go with these? Would it be bad to just add these springs without changing the shocks?

Regards,
Dan

Have a look at the Panorama article on 996 Standard and Sport Suspensions Analyzed.

In conclusion they don't recommend mixing.

It would look great but shocks may not have enough travel so mmay make for a very bumpy ride on less then smooth roads. Regards. Mike

Question

OK, I'm taking delivery Saturday on a new '02 C2 Coupe...it may see a track day or three, plus a lot of spirited backroad driving, so I want to lower it (really more for appearance) and stiffen the ride a bit. However, the car is a 24 month lease, so I don't want to go to the trouble or expense of coilovers or anything so fancy (I'd rather blow the money on slicks & GT100 gas). I had figured that I would just get the H&Rs, but now I'm wondering what I should do...any further advice for my situation? Thanks.

Nick:

Drive your cup car on the track and keep your street car on the street.

So the handling suffers if we just went with springs? Looks like we have to bite the bullet if we want a better handling targa

02-targa911,

First I am going with the Sports Exhaust, just love that rumble...

I am also interested in the rear C4S bumper, looks nice with the grilles.

Dan

targaman, congrats on the exhaust and looking forward to your impressions. I'm sure it'll blow you away

I don't know if the C4s rear bumper will fit, you might try contacting RUF as he makes the same look but for narrow-body 996s. All you'll be missing is somesort of rear spoiler that will actuely fit the targa. The only company that sells one is speedart (www.speedart.de) I didn't like the way it looks in their pics but you might

I spoke with Mike Shaw, board sponsor, and we have concluded that the C4s rear bumper will fit. The only extra parts are some kind of metal hardware for re-routing the exhaust tips. Other than that, should be a perfect fit. Going to hold off till I get the sports exhaust on. Also, I got my turbo bumper from him, he is an absolute wonderful guy and is very helpful. His prices are excellent.

Dan
