Hi -
We know the difference between the base C4s and a base Carrera Coupe is $13,200. I wanted to level the playing feilding in terms of options to see just how much the S" look and the AWD drive were really costing me on thier own.
So to a base coupe, I added everything I think the 4S has as standard: 18" wheels ($1,435), HiFi sound ($830), Litronic lamps (1,090), metallic paint ($825), PSM ($1,235), leather seats ($1,520), and sport seats($760). This gives me a total of $76,295 by my calculations.
These options take the difference in price between the coupe and the 4S all the way down to $5,505 which starts to seem like a relatively good deal for the added benifits of AWD and of course the wide body look.
Am I missing anything here in trying to justify the additional cost for the 4S? -Right off the bat, I'm pretty sure my understanding of the seating option is wrong. It seemed odd that full leather sport seats would be cheaper that simply upgrading the basic seats to full leather.

The C4s is lowered and has the aerokit under the door sills. Then there is the value you get with having the turbo nose. The Sport Seats are not extra on the 2003, fyi.

Here is the breakdown of the difference if you optioned the standard coupe as close as possible to the standard C4S:
2003 911 Carrera Coupe
Base Price: $68,600
Metallic Paint: $825
Full Leather: $3,250
PSM: $1,230
Sport Chasis: $690
18" Turbo Look Wheels: $1,325
Electric Seats: $1,535
Total w/ destiniation: $78,220
The C4S base model with destiniation: $82,565
Difference = $4,345
The C4S also includes the following for that extra $4K:
The Turbo's big red brakes
All Wheel Drive
Turbo Front End, Side Skirts & Rear (minus spoiler)
Turbo Wide Body.
Also note that the C4S wheels are wider than the turbo look wheels that can be optioned on the standard coupe and that the suspension has all the same components of the Turbo but is tuned slightly different due to the weight difference. I put in the Sport Chasis to get close to the suspension on the C4S but it is not the same. Looking at the difference the C4S is a real bargin...if a bargin can be had at over $80,000
I might have missed a few items but I think it is pretty complete. All prices were from the Champion Motors website.

Thanks very much A4EP - that was very helpful.
Of course, now I've just read posts from two former C4S owners on this board who state that they've sold year-old cars for something like 20K below sticker and I'm thinking that might be the way to go...

It's too bad that guys are selling their C4S after only 1 year!
After 3 months I only have 1232 miles on mine. I'll be happy to have it broken in in another month or two!
Of course the transmission recall may affect my timing somewhat!

Yes, they are a $0 cost option, however.

The C4S is not lowered for the North American market. However, in the ROW, it is approximately 10 mm lower from other standard 996 variants.
