I just had my 2001 C2 Cab at the dealer for some installation work: B&M short shifter, TrafficPro and CD changer. The audio/Nav stuff went in fine. TrafficPro is rather easy to use and has a nice stock look to it.
Wow the short shifter really tightens up the throw; I quite like it. However it seems a bit stiff. Is this normal or does it need to be "broken in?" I didn't get a chance to talk to the service guy as it was the end of the day and I was in a hurry. Anyone with a B&M short shifter have any comments?
BTW: I now have nearly new (MY2001) CDR-220 CD unit for sale.
TIA
Paul

It will smooth out but will still be stiffer/notchier then stock. But I like it in many ways compared to stock. Less of a throw between shifts and going into gear is more precise and better feedback I think. Regards. Mike

Thanks Mike. I just wanted to make sure they put it in correctly.
I just went out for a quick jot up the Greenway and ran up and down thru the gears. Precise and quick. I think I'm gonna really like this shifter once it loosens up just a bit!

Paul, FYI- had the B&M & P "sport exhaust put in appx. 3500K ago. Love 'em both! Should be "stock" stuff! (my opinion). And the shifter will "loosen-up" a bit, but then it's stayed nice & positive since. Just be sure- where U are in the "pattern"-or else it could get unpleasant. Enjoy

In my experience, the B&M doesn't loosen up with time at all. There is nothing to loosen. The only loosening is the transmission itself, if the B&M is installed when the car has very few miles.
