1Source Auto Warranty Vs. Warranty Direct
After reading many times that 1 Source and Warranty Direst were two of the best after market warrantees I decided to compare the Vehicle Service Agreements, VSA, of each and do a one on one comparison.
Both have “bumper to bumper” coverage also known as “exclusionary coverage”. These typically tell you what is NOT covered. If the item is not mentioned it is covered. I have determined that Warranty Direct seems to be the best choice of the two. (My opinion) I have written some notes as to why I came to that conclusion. Other than what you read below they are very close in coverage including cost.
Hope this saves you time in making your own assessments.
Differences:
1Source limit of liability for the term of the VSA is $20,000 vs. $75, 000 for Warranty Direct.
1 Source mandates oil change intervals at 5,000 miles or 6 months whichever comes first in addition to lubing suspension, steering system and inspecting CV joints Vs. Warranty Direct that mandates you must comply with your own Porsche maintenance schedule.
1 Source does not cover the electronic spoiler/ Warranty direct does.
1 Source does not cover repair to correct engine compression problems/ Warranty Direct does.
1 Source does not cover repair to a non-covered parts when damaged by a covered part/ Warranty Direct does.
1 Source does not cover a part recommended by maintenance to be replaced that has not yet failed/ Warranty direct does.
1 Source limits Emergency repairs to $500/ Warranty Direct does not mention any limits.
1 Source mandates the timing belt be replaced at 60,000 miles/ Warranty Direct mandates it be done as per your Porsche maintenance schedule.
1 Source does however cover the airbags and Warranty Direct does not.
Again, the above points were derived by comparing the Vehicle service agreements to the two companies. It is possible I may have misunderstood something so I highly recommend you get them and make your own assessments. I have forwarded my findings to both companies for comment. I will follow up once I have received an answer.

P.S. One interesting note. Both plans can be transferred for a small fee, however only to an individual. The warranty cannot be transferred to a dealership or to any business that deals in the buying and selling of cars.

The only thing I remember reading about Warranty Direct was that the car must still be under the orginal manufacturer warranty to initially qualify. I believe that 1 Source was less restrictive on this point.

Not sure if you have checked, but I recently bought from WarrantyGold.com
Much more precise coverage than 1Source, and complete enough to make it worth the cost.
Email me for details if needed.

Great post..thanks. I agree that Warranty Direct looks better than 1Source; however, I am curious. Did you ever compare Warranty Direct to Warranty Gold? I have seen them (W.G.) mentioned favorably several times as well. Thanks.

![Question](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/icons/icon5.gif)
has anyone here actually submitted claims to warranty gold?
their promotional materials are impressive but i wonder whether they really follow thru in a pinch
the extended coverage is quite expensive--nearly $3k <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="eek.gif" /> do they really give the repair shop a credit card # over the phone to authorize repairs as they claim?

Warranty Direct & Warranty Gold is not able to sell plans in California... 1source can.
I went with the 4 year 1source for $1300

Just finished comparing the vehicle service agreements, (VSA), between Warranty Direct and Warranty Gold.
Both VSA’s are almost identical. In fact, one company pretty much copied the other.
The major differences I found are listed below. I still believe Warranty Direct has an advantage.
Warranty Direct has a total plan amount coverage of $75,000/ Warranty Gold has $20,000
Warranty Direct coverage starts immediately upon payment/Warranty Gold starts 30 days AND 1,000 miles following payment. (This would cause a lapse in coverage in my case. Orig Warranty expires Mar 9, 03)
Both are similarly priced to Warranty Direct being a little higher.
Hope that helps.

I'm also in the market for a warranty for my 2000 Cab. I called http://www.autoprotection.com/ The comment/response back I thought fairly comical. The guy told me that he was sorry that he could not warranty my car. He has someone in all 50 states, but not New Mexico. Scratching my head, the last time I checked, New Mexico _was_ a part of the United States since 1912.
I guess it doesn't matter if it is New or Old, it's still Mexico.

This looks to be an old thread. Warranty Gold appears to be in Chapter 11 and not paying claims? 1Source, if they are still around appear to have some unfavorable press. Warranty Direct doesn't seem to insure the 911... or at least not in my zip code. Only the Boxster was available from the drop down.
