I have a 2001 996 Carrera w/ 9,000 mi. What would cause this? I am at altitude in Colorado(mile high). The smell lasted the remainder of the day. Car even stalled when idling after about 3-5 minutes of cool down. Could it be runing really rich b/c of altitude under thee spirited driving conditions? Does not do this any longer, nor did it prior.

Only change from stock is a GHL Exhaust...no headers.

Any ideas???

Have you taken the car back for the gas cap recal?

nope. will be bringing it in for an annual service in a week or so. will inquire them. what was the recall about?

Check you gas cap, my 99 leaked during hard left cornering and dripped all over the fender.
